Atty. Gary L. Gearhart graduated from LaSalle-Peru Township High School in 1965 and Illinois Wesleyan University in 1969. He was a Washington Semester Student and attended American University in Washington, D.C., and then went to Georgetown University Law School from 1969-1972. Upon graduating with a juris doctorate degree, and having served on the Law Review, he became a Law Clerk for Chief Justice Howard C. Ryan on the Supreme Court of Illinois.
He served one year as a Law Clerk to Justice Ryan and became City Attorney of LaSalle in 1973. In addition to serving as City Attorney, he also served as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Illinois (workers compensation division) for many years.
He is licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of Illinois, various Federal District Courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court in Washington, D.C. He has been in private practice in LaSalle since 1973 and has employed various associates throughout that time period. His areas of practice include family law, dissolutions, child support, and parenting time cases, workers compensation, personal injury, probate, estates, adoption, real estate and civil litigation.
